Digitimes reports that components for the upcoming next generation iPhone 5S will start shipping in May. While we’ve heard many reports that the iPhone 5S could launch as soon as June or August, this report claims that the device will aim for a Q3 launch.

The new iPhone will not receive a major upgrade and may just be a slightly enhanced version of iPhone 5 (iPhone 5S), the sources said citing their latest specification data. Meanwhile, there are also rumors stating that Apple also plans to release an iPhone model using plastic chassis to push its global smartphone market share, the sources added.

Digitimes source say that the device will be a minor upgrade with no plans of a redesign. The iPhone 5S will mainly focus on a more powerful processor along with an improved camera sporting more megapixels. Manufacturers of the iPhone 5S should be able to ship assembled devices to Apple retailers 1-2 weeks later, source claim.

As for the iPad Mini second-generation and the iPad fifth-generation, these two devices could be heading for an April release date, that’s next month! Although the blog claims that the iPad Mini second-generation will not be receiving a Retina display with this update. The reason for the lack of a Retina display in the iPad Mini is simply battery life. Ritchie believes that Apple would not put out a more expensive iPad than the last, nor would the company put out an iPad with lesser battery life, and that the iPad Mini second-generation would simply be a spec upgrade.
