Earlier today, Apple patched iOS 6.1, or iOS 6.1.1 if you’re on iPhone 4S, seeding the latest firmware iOS 6.1.2 to the public. Unlike the previous patch, iOS 6.1.1, iOS 6.1.2 is for all devices.
Just after the release of iOS 6.1.1, the evad3rs team behind the Evasi0n Untethered Jailbreak updated the Evasi0n tool to version 1.3, allowing iPhone 4S users on iOS 6.1.1 to Jailbreak Untethered. evad3rs member planetbeing tweeted out that the iOS 6.1.2 update does not patch the Evasi0n Jailbreak exploits.
Not yet able to test all devices, but it’s looking good for 6.1.2. iPad mini wi-fi and iPhone 5 are still jailbreakable.

However, do not update just yet, the evad3rs are still working on updating Evasi0n tool to support iOS 6.1.2. planetbeing assured us that Evasi0n 1.4 won’t take too long to compile and that the update to the popular Jailbreak tool will be released later today. If you accidently updated, hopefully you won’t have to live long without Cydia on your iPad!
We will release evasi0n 1.4 later today that marks iOS 6.1.2 as supported.

It’s nice to see Apple’s first priority being bug fixes for things like the Passcode Lock security bug and the Microsoft Exchange bug, instead of working on a way to block iOS users from Jailbreaking. This is the first time we’ve seen Apple update with a new firmware without patching a Jailbreak, if you don’t count iOS 6.1.1.
