While we’ve barely started the new year, loads of rumors and speculation are flying around about the iPad 5 and iPad Mini 2. The next generation iPad 5 is supposedly rumored to have a lighter and thinner design, according to one analyst. Rumors state that Apple will be releasing an iPad 5 and an iPad Mini 2 as soon as March, but analyst Ming-Chi Kuo over at KGI Securities thinks that Apple will discontinue its two device upgrades a year plan in 2013.
Kuo believes that Apple will in fact be bringing an iPad 5th generation, along with an iPad Mini 2 with Retina display. However, the analyst notes that Apple will not be releasing these devices until the third quarter of 2013, meaning Apple will go back to its 2011 schedule.
In his report, the analyst writes that the iPad 5 will have a thinner side bezel, like the iPad Mini, along with having the slimmer and lighter design. The iPad 5 should feature the same touch-enhancements as the iPad Mini, allowing users to place their thumbs on the screen, with iOS recognizing where the user’s thumbs are placed.
Kuo also mentions that Apple will not be bringing consumers an Apple HDTV this year. He says that we can expect and Apple television set no sooner than 2014, with an upgrade to the Apple TV coming this year.
