An autoshop in Florida substituted and mounted an iPad Mini with a car’s stereo system.
Oddly enough, I have wanted to do this with an iPod Touch for awhile now, here is a cool way to “pimp” our your car with an iPad Mini. This autoshop removed a Toyota Camry’s stereo system and custom-built a mount for the iPad Mini on day 1.
The iPad Mini car mount allows the user to pop in and out an iPad Mini so if they should need to bring it with them, that is possible. The iPad Mini is also connected to a device, located near the shifter of the car, which allows the volume and song to be controlled. Other than that, you’ve got yourself a pretty nifty car stereo for a cheap price, if you’re not counting the priceless car mount.
I might just have to ask around my local car stereo shops and see if they would be able to make one of these for me for a reasonable price. If this does happen, I might just spurge and buy an “iOS Inside” Intel-parody decal as well. The question is, how much would you pay for something like this?
