Waiting for the iPhone 5, and iPad mini/4th generation jailbreak? You just might be in luck – for life.
In late July, P0sixninja announced that he was no longer apart of the Chronic-Dev Team, and since then, he’s been an independent coder. But, is that necessarily a bad thing? This past week, Joshua Hill, aka P0sixninja, took to Twitter (thanks, Don!) to say that he’s working on something much bigger than just an iPhone 5 jailbreak.
While on Twitter, Hill noted that the iPhone 5 jailbreak process is grim, and since he doesn’t really have contact with the Chronic-Dev Team, he claims no one shares the progress with him. However, he went on to say that he has the “BootROM and decryption keys for A5/A5X/A6/A6X“. For those of you that don’t know, BootROM exploits are phenomenal, and allow the device to have a “lifetime” jailbreak. (This is the same process that Limera1n took upon, thus allowing tethered jailbreaks for <A4 devices on any firmware). The bootrom would cover iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPad 3rd generation, iPad 4th generation, and iPad mini.
He goes on to say that he’s working on a way that hasn’t been done before, and he’s making good progress. However, Grant Paul, aka chpwn, seems to have contact with a Dev Team, as he responded “Grim, eh?” after Hill’s comment. Of course, no word on the actual process.
This is big news for any jailbreaker, and is exciting to see that all jailbreak developers are working hard. Are you excited for an iPhone 5 jailbreak, or a bootrom exploit for that case? Let us know in the comments below!
