Earlier today Apple released the iOS 6.1 firmware to the public, which is interesting since the company never stated that the iOS 6.1 Beta 5 would be the Golden Master build. Aside from that, the release of iOS 6.1 finally allows the Untethered iOS 6 Jailbreak team, known now as evad3rs, to finish up the Jailbreak.
The evad3rs were waiting on Apple to released the iOS 6.1 firmware so that they could see if the firmware was still vulnerable to their exploits, it seems they are, but when will the team release the Untethered iOS 6.1 Jailbreak?
According to a subliminal Tweet from evad3rs dev team member MuscleNerd, it could very well be as soon as this Sunday, Superbowl day! UPDATE: Planetbeing has just said on Twitter that MuscleNerd suggested the “Sunday Funday” idea, however, it’s not necessarily going to be the case.
Hey, did everyone know the Super Bowl is this Sunday? What will you be doing? /cc @evad3rs evad3rs.com

Jailbreak has been known to release in the past on Sundays, because Sunday is Funday. This has usually been the tradition for Jailbreaks in the past and it looks like the evad3rs plan to keep it.
iOS 6.1 appears to be vulnerable to the exploits we are planning on using.

According to planetbeing, “iOS 6.1 appears to be vulnerable to the exploits we are planning on using”, which is great news. However, it seems they also have some lines of code to polish.
In terms of code, we have two proof of concepts that we need to merge and polish, so we will not be ready to release until that and testing.

A little short of a week could be enough time for the evad3rs to polish up the Jailbreak. According to them, the Untethered iOS 6.1 Jailbreak is already complete, and now all they need to do is some minor tweaking of the Jailbreak code. MuscleNerd’s Tweet sure got us riled up, so we’ll see as the date gets closer.
