Untethered iOS 6.1 Jailbreak iPhone 5

Recently we’ve heard loads of news on the Untethered iOS 6 Jailbreak. The Jailbreak developers have finally started taking to Twitter with more news almost every day. Yesterday, we heard iOS hacker planetbeing, who is currently working on the Untethered iOS 6 Jailbreak, Tweet about how the future of Jailbreak is looking bright.

Today we see another Tweet, this time from Pod2G, taunting Apple to release iOS 6.1 public build, so that the team can get cracking. As most may know that planetbeing has already achieved the Untethered iOS 6.1 Jailbreak on pre-A5 and post-A5 devices. The current Untethered iOS 6 Jailbreak works on iOS 6.0, iOS 6.0.1, and iOS 6.0.2, though it has not been publicly released.

The reason for the lack of release is that the team is waiting for Apple to seed iOS 6.1 final build. This would allow the team to see if Apple has changed any of its security or patched any current exploits. That way the Untethered iOS 6 Jailbreak would work on the most recent build from Apple, leaving nobody behind. However, planetbeing did state that Pod2G and himself are looking for one or two more exploits so that future Jailbreaks are possible.

The latest Tweet from Pod2G says “Come on Apple. Release that 6.1 now!”, hopefully meaning that this is all they are waiting for before public release. Apple has taken its time releasing the iOS 6.1 GM build, most likely because they know a Jailbreak is currently possible, and trying to find more holes in the system to patch. Many are waiting for an iPad Mini Jailbreak, and one for the iPhone 5!

As long as the exploits haven’t been patched, we should be seeing an iOS 6.1, iOS 6.0.2, iOS 6.0.1, and iOS 6.0 Untethered Jailbreak very soon. Your move Apple.
